What you'll need
to get started
We keep the requirements straightforward. If you can drive safely and pass a background check, you're most of the way there.
Valid California Driver's License
A current, unrestricted California driver's license in good standing. No commercial license required for standard rides.
Your Own Vehicle
A registered, insured vehicle in good mechanical condition. Model year requirements and vehicle condition standards apply.
Clean Background Check
A standard background check covering driving history and criminal record. We partner with trusted screening providers to keep the process fast.
A Smartphone
Android or iPhone — to run the HUMAN Driver app, accept trip requests, navigate, and manage your earnings.
Age 21 or Older
California law and our insurance requirements set the minimum driving age for rideshare at 21.
Proof of Insurance
Current personal auto insurance meeting California's minimum liability requirements. Rideshare insurance is strongly recommended.

Sign up at HUMAN in minutes. Enter your details, upload your documents, and submit your application. The whole process takes less than 10 minutes.
Pass your background check
We run a standard background and driving history check through our screening partner. Most drivers hear back within 1–3 business days. We'll keep you updated by email.
Start accepting rides
Once approved, download the HUMAN Driver app, go online, and start earning. Set your preferred service area, choose your available hours, and take the wheel.
